This Astatic 600-S Conneaut Vintage Microphone was manufacturered in 1946. It is a beloved crystal mike for harpists and possesses an omni capsule with "semidirectionality". It is called the Conneaut because it was manufactured in the new Astatic factory in Conneaut, Ohio (originally in Youngstown, OH). It has also been called the "rocket" microphone for obvious reasons. At least 3 versions of the 600 exist to my knowledge. There is a model 600, a 600-S (this one with the On/Off switch) and the G-600 which was for push-talk stands. The 600 series with the plastic grill were discontinued quickly and replaced with the 600 series with the metal grill (also called the 1223). Astatic did this probably because the plastic was quite fragile and tended to break easily. You will note that the 600-S offered for auction is in excellent condition and functional. It still displays nicely. There is some mild pitting. There is no cable.
