Offered today is a Bruel & Kjaer Vintage Microphone attached to an Environmental Noise Classifier Model 166. This appears to be an analog instrument although it does have what looks like an RS232 port. It seems to work as the light goes on and the the number change although I am not sure if it works properly. It was last calibrated in 1982. I've reviewed the technical data sheets on B&K's website and have not found this specific model described. It does look a lot like the B & K Statistical Distribution Analyzer Type 4420 which connects to the Level Recorder Type 2305, 1964 (link). I believe this device was discussed in "JAES Volume 22 Issue 7 pp. 528-532; September 1974 An Environmental Noise Classifier and Its Use" (abstract)
Bruel & Kjaer has been an innovator in Sound, Environmental Noise and Vibration monitoring and calibration (link). They bought Western Electric's calibration microphone division shortly after Altec took control.
