The Oktava MK-19 Vintage, Cardioid Ribbon Microphone was produced in the USSR in the 1970's and 1980's. It was designed for radio applications and was considered the Russian response to the directional RCA 77DX. The comparison is supposedly closer to a 44BX on the top end. I've tested this on a PA and found a good, strong, buzz-free output and it sounds great to my ears. I haven't tried recording with it nor have I used it at all since it was acquired. It has been kept in a dust-free, iron-shavings free, climate controlled and smoke free enclosure and has not been subjected to blowing, tapping or phantom power. I have not opened it. Cosmetically, it is in excellent condition. It has a small Tuschel connection. There was some confusion regarding the model number on these mics as some were erroneously labled MK-219. A technician substantiated this here: "The unidirectional Ml-19, made in late 70-s and 80-s was the last good microphone in the Ml series. It had a sharp cardioid, and well-balanced response."
