The Schoeps Telefunken M221B is a legendary small diaphragm tube condenser vintage microphone. It was manufactured between 1954 and 1970. Schoeps GmbH (Schoeps) is a prominent manufacturer of professional studio condenser microphones for recording and broadcast. The privately-owned company is based in Karlsruhe, Germany and was founded in 1948. The " 221's are very sweet and musical. They have a silky top end, with very good sensitivity for capturing fine detail and nuances." There were perhaps 20 exchangeable capsule covering the gamut of polar patterns. This particular M221B has the MK240 cardioid capsule. The mic comes with its original case, shock mount and cable. I do not have a power supply, although I understand Schoeps still makes these for the M221B. On the other hand, they no longer produce the MK240 capsules. "In the vacuum-tube era, Schoeps M 221-series microphones (especially the model M 221 B) were widely used in studios and for live orchestral recording. Their circuitry is based on the Telefunken AC 701k vacuum tube. They were introduced in 1954 and manufactured until the 1970s; many are still in use today." I was unable to assess this mike for function but I presume it works as I was told it did by the party who sold it to me. I just never got around to getting the power supply.
